  Brigade History Brigade Structure

Pre-fire management is administered by the volunteer Fire Warden network through the Permit to Light Fire system.
Actual fire management is provided by volunteer Rural Fire Brigades.  
A Brigade’s structure is as follows:
Roles of Office Bearers within a Brigade are:
First Officer – is responsible for all operational activities (mitigation, operational readiness and training, with support from the training officer/s)
 
Second Officer – supports the First Officer and acts as the First Officer should the First Officer be absent.
 
Chairperson – is responsible for chairing brigade meetings.
 
Secretary – is responsible for:  
giving notice of meetings to the members in accordance with the constitution;
attending all meetings and keeping minutes, the names of members present and all proceedings;  
initiating and answering correspondence;  
receiving any donations tendered to the brigade and remitting those to the Treasurer;  
signing brigade equipment orders and ensuring payments are made.
 
Treasurer – is responsible for:  
receiving and depositing into the brigade’s bank account any money paid to the Brigade, and maintaining a record of all receipts and payments;
paying accounts when authorized by the brigade to do so;  
preparing a balance sheet and Statement of Income and Expenditure at the end of each financial year.
